Malaysia is Appointed as the President of ASEAN Book Publishers Association (ABPA)

On 4 November 2009, the President of MABOPA, Mr. Law King Hui was appointed the President of ASEAN Book Publishers Association (ABPA). The appointment was done during the 5th ABPA General Meeting at Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, Indonesia.

On 4 November 2009, the President of MABOPA, Mr. Law King Hui was appointed the President of ASEAN Book Publishers Association (ABPA). The appointment was done during the 5th ABPA General Meeting at Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Mr. Law succeeds Atty. Domindor D. Buhain, the President of Philippines Educational Publishers Association (PEPA) whose two-year term ended as allocated in the ABPA’s constitution. Mr. Law will hold the ABPA President post until 2011. The ABPA President post for the coming session in 2011 is expected to be held by the President of Singapore Publishers Association (SPA).

At the 5th ABPA General Meeting, Mr. Law also made appointments of the ABPA General Secretary and Committee Chairpersons for the current session. The current Honourable Secretary of MABOPA, En. Arief Hakim Sani bin Rahmat, was appointed the ABPA General Secretary until 2011. En. Arief Hakim takes over the post from Atty. Rodelio T. Dascil of Philippines.

MABOPA gladly welcomes the appointment of the new President to lead the ABPA for the next two years. MABOPA will give its full support and cooperation to the new leadership of ABPA.

In his acceptance speech Mr. Law extended his thanks to the previous president, En. Buhain for his contributions to ABPA. Mr. Law hopes to continue the excellent efforts of En. Buhain and lead ABPA to greater heights.
